EDI Watch Parties

Every two months, DTC students and alumni are invited to watch a video about equity issues in perinatal care and discuss key themes that are relevant to doula care and perinatal education with their colleagues. The watch parties offer DTC birthworkers an opportunity to learn more about how equity issues manifest during birth and postpartum care and strategies that doulas in a variety of settings have used to disrupt oppression and provide affirming care. The videos are approximately 30 minutes long, followed by a 30-minute guided discussion. Once or twice a year, participants watch a feature-length film. Watch party attendance can be used toward education units (EUs).

Just Birth

Now in its 2nd season, Just Birth is Doula Canada’s original live-streaming series about creating social justice and health equity in birth work. A panel of Doula Canada students, alumni, and instructors share stories and case studies from their lived and professional experiences that elucidate practical strategies for creating equity in our practices and safety for our clients.

Sweetgrass Circle

All self-identified First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students are welcome.

Webinars

Each year, we offer a selection of webinars that offer a deeper dive into EDI topics that our members have expressed a desire to know more about.
