Research Skills for Birth Workers: webinar I March 3, 2022
March 3, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EST
$15.00
Join our resident researcher and EDI Lead, Keira Grant for a webinar and CE opportunity about the importance and implications of strong research. Keira will walk participants through a discussion about literature review skills and prepare them for the in’s and out’s of accessing, qualifying, and reviewing strong and current research related to birth work.
The focus of this webinar is evidence based literature review for birth work. We will cover turning client issues and concerns into research questions, structuring and tracking key word searches, types of literature reviews and approaches that are accessible to non-medical people, assessing the quality of sources, summarizing the data, referencing, and accessible options for presenting results.
This is an important topic for birthworkers because comprehensive, evidence-based information is a huge part of what clients are seeking from doula support. There is a lot of information out there and separating the wheat from the chaff can be challenging, especially when you are already dealing with the stressors of pregnancy and new parenthood. At the end of the webinar birthworkers will be equipped with concrete tools for supporting clients to identify and fill gaps in their knowledge, distinguishing between credible scientific literature and misinformation, and presenting academic research in a way that anyone can understand.
The webinar will be 90 minutes long, with a presentation, case studies, and time for questions and discussion.
