Understanding the Legalities of Your Doula Biz
November 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EST
Free – $25.00
Are you seeking a better understanding of the legal implications of owning and operating a business that provides personal care? Do you want to make sure your contracts protect you? Would you like to ask an expert questions about the legal obligations that apply to your record keeping, maintaining confidentiality, and documenting and reporting things you may witness as a doula?
Description/workshop overview:
In this 90-minute virtual webinar, participants will have an opportunity to ask Anne Posno, legal counsel at Lenczner Slaght about the legal side of running a doula business. Anne will provide a brief overview of legal considerations related to issues like:
“Duty of Care” and “Negligence” definitions and their implications for unregulated client care services
Reporting obligations if you witness something in a hospital, birth centre, or home.
Contracts and contract breaches
What to document and how to maintain your records
This presentation will be followed by a Q&A, allowing participants to ask questions that matter to how they do business. Anne has broad expertise in cases involving health provider negligence, commercial disputes, fraud, and privacy.
This webinar is offered freely to members and alumni of DTC and is $25 for external participants. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that can be used as a continuing education unit at DTC.
